Church Voice And Vote Requirements

At its 3rd September 2024 meeting, the Governing Board established criteria for eligibility for voice and/or vote at the General Conference Business Meeting. The Governing Board has voted to confirm:

● That all churches, including those on an assessment agreement, must be up to date with their assessment contributions and forms to 31st of December 2024.

● Assessment contributions and forms must be caught up and received by MCC by 31st March 2025, in order to be eligible to have voice and vote at General Conference 2025.

● USA Pension payments must be received/caught up for year-end by 31st March 2025 as a requirement for eligibility of voice and vote at General Conference 2025.

It is the responsibility of the local Church Board, Senior Pastor and Lay Delegate(s) to make sure that your church is eligible to vote. If you are unsure if your church is up to date, please email FiRST@MCCchurch.net.

Governors discussed bylaws, the Governing Board Policy Handbook and past practices regarding criteria for voice and vote at the General Conference before they voted on this motion.

Churches who are experiencing difficulties with contributing their assessments may be able to have an assessment agreement with MCC to ease financial concerns. Please contact FiRST@MCCchurch.net for more information.

The Board of Pensions contributions from US churches cannot be forgiven or reduced, as the Board of Pensions does not have that authority within the structure of the Pension Plan. For further information, please contact Tammy Erwin tammyerwin@MCCchurch.net
