The Universal Fellowship of Metropolitan Community Churches (MCC) General Conference is a triannual event that gathers some of the most influential LGBTQIA+ theologians, pastors, student clergy, congregational leaders, MCC decision makers, and social justice advocates from all over the world! The Transformational Weekend, 3-6 July 2025, will be filled with theological discussions, worship, education, spiritual rejuvenation, fellowship, and celebration. Participants will be empowered with training, peer support, and exhibitor resources that will enable them to continue this important work in their local churches and communities.

All our successes are wonderful things to celebrate, yet there is much more we can do. At least 61 countries still have national laws criminalizing same-sex relations between consenting adults. In addition, at least nine countries have national laws criminalizing forms of gender expression that target transgender and gender nonconforming people. According to the International Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans and Intersex Association (ILGA) who monitor the progress of laws relating to homosexuality around the world, the punishment for same-sex sexual acts in Brunei, Iran, Mauritania, Saudi Arabia, Yemen, and in some northern states of Nigeria is the death penalty. In Afghanistan, Pakistan, Qatar, Somalia, and the United Arab Emirates, the law is unclear so the death penalty is not out of question.
